Resolution No.15 (1967): Geostationary satellite for studying rapid magnetic variations
The IAGA recognising the difficulty in understanding the nature of rapid magnetic variations within the magnetosphere from moving satellites and recognising the recent improvements in satellite technology, recommends that a suitable geostationary satellite be placed in orbit for studying these magnetic variations. Because of the great significance of this project to geomagneticians in many countries it is further proposed that the results be made immediately available to the international scientific community.
